All who know me, are aware of my extreme
love of camp. I am lucky enough to have
attended North Star Camp in Wisconsin for the past few years, and like many of
my friends…we take this healthy experience for granted.
There are many children battling cancer and
other serious illnesses who are not as lucky as I am. Most of their days and nights are spent in
hospital rooms and doctors’ offices, instead of enjoying being a kid.
But…with the help of selfless volunteers
and countless donations...Camp Simcha was created for children and teens to
escape their suffering at home for two weeks of fun, friendship, and hope for
the future. Each summer, over 400
seriously ill children from around the country are treated to unforgettable,
medically supervised overnight camp free of charge. Campers return home reinvigorated, filled
with happy memories, and armed with a community of new friends who will help
them travel the rough road ahead.
My “Go Mitzvah” goal is to raise enough money
to provide a Chicago-area child this priceless camp experience. The cost per child is $5,000.00! In addition to what is pledged on this web
page, I plan to donate a portion of my Bar Mitzvah gifts to help reach my goal.
